In the UK Site engineering jobs tend to be both technical and organisational roles on construction projects. The job often involves the setting out of roads, drains and other structures involved during the construction job.
Site engineer's responsibilities involve applying designs and plans to the site by marking out all the reference points and marking out all the structures. Contracts and projects can range from small scale to multi-million pound construction projects. Many of the vacancies we have shown have been for civil, road, rail and other infrastructures. A site engineer is part of a projects management team, working alongside architects, engineers, construction managers, planners, surveyors and any subcontractors. The site engineer is also responsible for the site security, health and safety of the work force and the organisation and supervision of materials and labourers.
Work activities include:
Technical adviser for subcontractors
Setting out, levelling and surveying the building site.
Checking plans and drawings as well as material specifications.
Checking quantities and the price for materials.
Managing the client and architects expectations.
Liaising with the local authority.
Liaising with consultants, sub-contractors planners or with quantity surveyors and the general workforce.
Day-to-day management of the building site
Resolving unexpected technical difficulties.
