Description:

ClientThe client, part of a major multi national corporation, manufactures and markets a range of mechanical seals and flexiblepower transmission couplings.Position Overview.Based in the Turbo Seal support team in Slough, you will be responsible for handling a range of engineering activities,in support of the sales and operations areas. This will require good communication skills, and an ability to appreciatethe needs of the business outside your own team. The role involves selecting and recommending engineering solutions forspecific applications, sourcing and providing performance data, relaying engineering requirements to the design area, andverifying and approving existing and new designs within known operating envelopes.Additionally, the team handles a wide range of engineering activities including direct hands on support of therefurbishment and test areas, and as such requires an engineer with a broad base of practical experience ideally withinthe rotating equipment environment.Responsibilities. Selecting and providing performance data for specific applications Use of proprietary FEA software to optimise and validate seal performance Define and communicate custom design requirements to the seal designer Validate and approve customer specific seal designs Define and specify in house testing requirements against customer specifications Review and validate refurbished products against improved designs Support and guide test stand and operations personnel.The Selection CriteriaThe successful candidate should have an HNC/D or equivalent as a minimum, whilst a degree in mechanical engineering isdesirable. A minimum of 2 years experience in a related environment would be preferred, although consideration would begiven to a new graduate also. Ideally the candidate should also possess a working knowledge of rotating equipment.Experience with CAD and FEA packages would also be an advantage.Rowe & Co.
