TITLE : Assembly / Line SupervisorDEPARTMENT : Assembly (Production)RESPONSIBLE TO : Assembly ManagerPURPOSETo assist in improving both the quality and throughput of the Assembly Department, through the monitoring of the workproduced in the department; running the department in the absence of the Assembly Manager and assist in its day to dayrunning. Currently the Assembly department consists of; Manual assembly, Assembly services (auto-insertion, cablecutting, and flow-soldering), Inspection, and Packing.MAIN DEPARTMENTAL FUNCTION(a) To ensure that the quality of all assemblies is maintained at the highest possible level by assisting in the dailychecking and the monitoring of the work of all Assembly staffs. (See note 1)(b) To help Assembly staff work through jobs in the most effective manner:( i ) provide up to date masters and assembly notes:( ii ) get the Assembly staff started on each job, making them aware of any special tools and / or modifications:( iii ) sort out any shortages and draw these shortages to the attention of the Assembly, Purchasing and ProductionManagers:( iv ) remove completed sub - assemblies, job, and reject and spare parts:( v ) to ensure that any product requiring rework , is given back to the individuals that created the nonconformity forimmediate rework , ensuring that the batch leaves inspection or test complete .(c) To assist in the day to day running of the Assembly Department and to ensure that all parts of a job are ready forthe Assembly staff.(d) To help promote and maintain the effective and efficiently running of the department;(e) To help promote and maintain good housekeeping within the department;(f) To assist in maintain the discipline of Assembly staff.(g) To assist in the suitable in-house training of Assembly staff.(h) To assist in ensure that all shop floor data is accurately collected, and recorded in a timely manner.(k) To investigate and bring to the notice of the Assembly Manager any aids or equipment that are consistent withimproving the quality, output, safety or environment of the department, and on agreement to be responsible forimplementation.(l) Liaise with the Assembly Manager to ensure that assembly is working on the most important jobs (outstanding urgentcustomer orders), and high probability potential customer orders, so that when building for stock a balance is maintainedacross the whole product range.
