: Buyer Hertfordshire - GBP 35,000 per annum dependent on experience Location Hertfordshire Role My Client is a leading independent construction company. One of the key reasons behind this achievement and their outstanding success is their strong customer focus and flexibility. They are seeking a confident materials buyer to take responsibility for procurement decisions as follows: Overview purchasing strategy with site management on high value / high-risk materials. Manage and prioritise Purchasing departments workload. Instigate proactive purchasing strategy with site management (Purchasing Programmes, identification of lead-in periods etc) Actively review purchasing supply chain by commodity and geography. Primary contact and Buyer for projects. Primary contact for Divisional management. Undertake procurement of materials and services as currently identified in Buying Procedures and oversee performance of subordinates. Locate new suppliers and maintain / update vendor database Develop and maintain contact network at senior management level. Primary contact for obtaining quotations for materials and services both pre tender and post tender, including analysis and recommendations. Undertake cost analysis and identify true cost of purchase with consideration of Group overview. Identify ways to reduce cost of purchase with consideration of Group overview. Identify suitable suppliers for project requirements with consideration of Group overview. Promote preferred supplier supply chain management strategy. Place orders on Siteman computerised purchasing system. Train and develop subordinates procurement skills (as applicable). To be considered for this role, you will be experienced in Microsoft Office and Computerized Order placement System. And have a minimum of 2 years construction / utilities knowledge and experience, as well as good negotiation & communication skills. We are looking for a self-starter, who is able to work flexibly. Knowledge of SITEMAN system preferable.
