An exciting and varied role, working within a small team of project design engineers and project managers in the field ofcommunity heating & CHP in buildings. The team develops projects from original concept stage through to installation,construction and commissioning of plant and infrastructure for handover to operations staff.Typical projects include the design and installation of district heating & cooling pipe infrastructure, fabrication ofmetering and control stations, installation of combined heat & power (CHP) plant and the installation of boilers andancillary HVAC equipment.The CAD/Design Engineer will be involved in the detailed design of such projects, typically after the conceptual designhas been agreed.Duties to include:-Project design and CAD draughting using AutoCAD 2006 in a team of Project Design Engineers and Project Managers. Typicalprojects include detailed design and preparation of mechanical & electrical building services drawings with a particularfocus on large centralised heating systems; including plant layout drawings, planning drawings and schematic/processdiagrams of central plant, distribution networks and associated ancillary equipment.The Person SpecificationA motivated and professional person, with a degree in Building Services, Energy or Mechanical Engineering and 3-5 yearsrelevant experience. The successful candidate will be competent in the use of AutoCAD software. The ability to prioritiseand organise workload and good communication skills are essential. Candidates with knowledge and experience of CHP ordistrict heating would be an advantage but is not essential.Good written English, MS Excel and basic AutoCAD skills are all essential.The successful candidate will meet with clients, potential clients, local authorities and suppliers; therefore strongpresentation and interpersonal skills are essential.The post will be based in Crawley, however projects are UK-wide and a flexible approach is essential, potentially stayingaway from home for several days or weeks if necessary.Key BenefitsSalary: c.
