Company DescriptionOur client is a large Defence Prime Systems Integrator based in the South West and involved in a Programme that providesa new secure communications system to the British Armed ForcesPositionTo exercise configuration and Data management control over all TDP, hardware, software and deliverables in bothelectronic data and paper formsReporting to the CM/TDS Manager with functional responsibilities to the JIB Programme Manager, the JIB ConfigurationManager will exercise configuration and data management control over all hardware, software and data deliverables in allforms of media. This role is heavily software biased and the ideal candidate shall have a sound knowledge of SoftwareConfiguration Management and release management however, the candidate must have a good understanding of the full productdevelopment lifecycle to exercise configuration and data management control over all related hardware establishing andmaintaining all items under configuration control.The JIB Configuration Manager will be expected to carryout engineering and system analyses with the Architecture teamproviding software technical guidance to both the System and Executive level Configuration Control Boards in thefollowing areas:Software release managementSoftware/hardware compatibility testingThe JIB Configuration Manager will be responsible for developing and conducting training for all JIB personnel to ensureproper procedural discipline is established and maintained.For the right candidate there is potential to develop this position to become the lead role within GDUK for SoftwareConfiguration and Release Management and interface to systems engineering group for the following areas:Definition of integration requirements for applicationsEvolution of Application Developers Guidelines into a specification for future applicationsPreparation of architectural models, requirements and test definitionsKey SkillsEducated to degree level or equivalent specializing in electrical or software engineering.A minimum of 5 years experience exercising configuration control and data management control in an engineering teamdeveloping and delivering Defence electronics systems.Experience with the following:Data Models and database replicationFunctional knowledge of Def Stan 05-57, Issue 4Understanding of SCM Standards J-Std-016, ISO 12207 and EIA-649Telelogic DOORS and SCM toolsExperience with MS Office tools.
