The Group offers a full range of design, engineering and project and programme management services; this can be combinedto provide multi-disciplinary teams, enabling the company to take a prominent role in major infrastructure projects.The company was formed in 1998 bringing to conclusion a dynamic period of change (which has eventually drawn togetherfour distinct consultancics covering: Power, Engineering, Building and Geology). There are now eight business unitscovering the likes of Rail, Highways, Environment and Buildings each run by a Director who retains full profit and lossresponsibility and reports directly to the Main Board.Buildings Design & ManagementDue to increased turnover and client growth and as part of the plan to grow the Northern Group, there is the need toappoint a Technical Director who can spearhead the evolution and development of a new Mechanical and Electrical Designbusiness out of the Manchester officeInitially reporting to the Head of the Northern Group, the newly appointed Building Services Technical Director willcombine technical competence with the ability to motivate, manage and grow a team along with the confidence and focus todevelop trusting relationships with clients.OBJECTIVE QUALITIESAge: None stated, but a minimum of 12 years experience is required.Qualifications Ideally, a Chartered Engineer, preferably ElectricalRequirementsThe absolutely ideal candidate would have prior experience at partnership level within a small consultancy where theyhave been able to combine a technical electrical design capability with strong client facing and account managementskills along with the broader management responsibilities of localised P&L, budget setting, team growth and developmentand excellent account management abilities. It is also hoped that the successful candidate will be able to generate theirown proposals as to how best develop the business; once they are well established.There will be line responsibilities for all the M&E Engineers in the Northern Group (Newcastle 3, Chester 5). Of moreimportance will be pro-actively leading the growth and development of the M&E business in Manchester which will then drawthe focus and soon eradicate the need to remain in Chester.TARGET AREASWe will target individuals who are at not only managing mechanical and electrical design projects (probably as ProjectDirector) but will also have some management responsibilities (probably the No. 2 to their respective Business UnitDirector). There is also the possibility of attracting a partner from a small consultancy. We will consider allconsultancies (large and small) in and around the Manchester area. |
