CONTRACT TO PERMANENT VACANCYJOB TITLE: Engineering Project OfficerLOCATION: BEDFORDSHIRESALARY RANGE: GBP 23.5 to GBP 30.5KDepartment: Estates and Site ServicesReports to: Estates Operations ManagerObjectives:To undertake responsibility for the engineering design element of facility related projects usually up to a total valueof GBP 250K.To prepare design and contract documentation for facility projects.Preparing schemes for minor projects to ensure legal compliance and best practice on technical design.Review site utility systems to identify potential problems and recommend cost effective solutions.To prepare briefs for major projects in consultation with other Estates & Site Services staff, schools and consultants.Responsibilities and Key Tasks:To carry out the building services design work for projects.Ensure that customer expectations are satisfied.Ensure that schemes comply with statutory requirements.Manage the implementation of projects from feasibility study to completion against time and cost targets.Be familiar with the site utility distribution system and recommend cost effective ways to improve efficiency andreliability.Undertake the monitoring and analysis of the consumption of utilities for the site.Be familiar with the production and updating of engineering drawings using Autodesk, AutoCAD and AEC.Characteristics of the PostThe post holder will liaise with all levels of staff and outside bodies.There will be occasions when the post holder will be required to work outside normal hours to supervise contractors andstaff.Qualifications and ExperienceExperience of building and site utilities and related project changes.Experience of all aspects of design office work.A Higher National or Degree in Building Services.Desirable QualitiesThe following personal qualities are required:Must be an enthusiastic team playerMust be a self starterHave good communication skillsBe presentableTechnically proficientPotential and desire to develop further. |
