Staff at the centre are responsible for the risk assessment of chemicals in the environment and responding to enquiriesfrom clients in regards to pollution incidents and issues in relation to the effect of chemicals on human health andenvironment. A significant part of the centres work is based around desk based research with recent projects includingthe development of environmental quality standards for waters and sediments. In addition the centre also conduct labbased ecotoxicological projects investigating the effects of chemicals on aquatic and terrestrial organisms andenvironmental monitoring projects involving the collection of samples from rivers, estuaries and industrial wastewatersfor analysis and data interpretation.The ideal candidate for this role will be educated in a chemical discipline, and MSc or PhD in an relevant environmentalarea and a minimum of two years post graduate experience. The ability to show a genuine interest and understanding of thefate and behaviour of chemicals in the environment with a familiarity of chemical risk assessment including modelling.It is essential that you hold a full and clean drivers license with the ability to work independently or as a member of amultifunctional team.
