: The title "Facilities Manager" covers a vast range of responsibilities at our factory at Bath where we employ approximately 100 people. Ideally this person should have a mechanical engineering background and should have HNC, HND or degree type qualifications. The job roughly divides into 6 parts, but often these parts overlap and merge. 1.Looking after the site and the buildings: This can involve sorting building specifications, talking to architects, planners and dealing with all the range of building contractors when a new building is needed. It can also mean unblocking a drain during a crisis and repairing damage after an accident. Jobs like security, issue and control of locks, intruder alarms, sorting the rubbish, disposal and organising recycling all come under his responsibility. 2.Keeping the site safe and compliant with the law and the appropriate regulations: To do this properly he needs to know the laws and regulations or at least to know a man who does. He also must be aware of the changes in the regulations that will affect the factory. 3.ISO 14001 Environmental Standard: The company has recently been audited to this standard and has heard that the auditors recommend that we should be awarded ISO 14001. It will be one of the responsibilities to help maintain this standard. 4.New machinery & processes: He will be responsible, with help, to choose, buy and install many different sorts of machines. He may well be called upon to keep these machines in good working order and to operate the Plant Register. 5.Property other than the Factory site: The Company owns some properties close by and it will be part of his responsibilities to keep these in good order. 6.Health & Safety: As part of a team, he will be required to attend Health & Safety meetings and to contribute to keeping the factory a safe place to work. The job is a very varied one, involving a lot of working on one's own and then as part of a team. The range of tasks is so big it is not possible to name each one. RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES include, but are not limited to the following: Ensure reliable operation of all M&E systems.
