Job Requirements * Must know that they want to specialise in software testing and don't need failed programmers, they will be frustrated! Must have a good degree and academic record, not necessarily in IT, must be diplomatic and comfortable working in a team * Must be proficient with MS-Windows application including Word, Excel. Familiar with UNIX fundamentals, querying databases using SQL. Understand the concepts of a relational database * May be familiar with testing Client/Server environments and /or Web environments and may be familiar with Reconciliations business concepts. * Must be familiar with the fundamentals of black-box testing: i.e. 'understand what it should do, test that it does it as an end-user, no more, no less' May have used automatic testing tools Must demonstrate clear written and oral communications, and be comfortable liaising with external customers on a regular basis * Must come over as professional & confident, and not arrogant when dealing with customers, and be comfortable in customer facing situations * Must be able to demonstrate prioritisation of issues based on sound judgement . May have some experience with supporting Client/Server environments As with all support roles a certain amount of shift work and on call support duty is required. Shifts are 7am - 3.30pm, 9am - 5.30pm and 10.30 - 7pm, and after gaining full knowledge of products (usually after 18 months or so) , then required to be on call overnight and at weekends on a rota - extra 6 to 7k a year for being on call. |
