All training and coaching must be clearly linked to business needs, processes and policies and ensures the business usesthe systems effectively. To work with the business and HR Department to anticipate and plan proactively for future needs.The role will require the individual to spend most of their time in the business as a deskside coach and to work closelywith the IS team regarding new business software implementations.Selection Criteria A minimum of 3 years software training and development experience Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage high profile projects with limited supervision Excellent facilitation and presentation skills Excellent written communication skills Experience of managing training assignments that incorporate all aspects of the learning cycle Experience of implementing training and evaluation processes Ability to optimise performance of self and others in a diverse and changing environment Ability to communicate effectively with managers at all levels Ability to gather and analyse different information to identify best solutions Strong I.T. Knowledge Strong Microsoft Office knowledgeKnow-HowExperience in a similar training/coaching role within an IT/sales environment would be a distinct advantage, along withthe ability to learn new systems quickly. The capability to link to software use to business drivers and processes wouldbe advantageous.Customer ManagementResponsible for identifying, supporting and delivering against the business software training needs for all areas of thebusiness. This will include updating, planning and linking all training interventions into the goals/objectives for thatdepartment. To run projects for those departments and the business, to improve process, delivery and service tocustomers. To use the resource within the training team to support those projects, setting objectives, giving guidanceand providing feedback to other members of the team who support them.Needs AnalysisTo conduct Needs Analysis for any staff prior to development of training intervention. This activity is to includeconsultation with all stakeholders who may have an influence on the training. Consideration to be given to current skillof staff as well as future development of the department and business. Trainer to also be responsible for selling theoutcome of the analysis to the department manager and for delivery of any agreed outcomes.Course DevelopmentTo take responsibility for development of course materials to meet business software training needs. This may take theform of a course, some coaching in a 1:1 or small group, telephone support or facilitating a meeting. Development may bein the form of a new course or of updating and maintaining a current course.Course PreparationTo take full responsibility for the organisation and preparation for any technical training type intervention. This toinclude responsibility for content of all handouts and course materials. Work with the HRD Co-ordinator to prepare andsend joining instructions to all delegates, including ensuring the database is updated with all details. To ensure thatall equipment and support for each course is available in the venue and all equipment is in working condition for thepurposes of the training.Course DeliveryTo deliver all technical training to a high standard. To focus on delegates learning rather than presentation ofmaterial. To adapt delivery style to suit the delegates style and current needs. To be aware of business needs andrequirements and link training to the broader business picture. To enable delegates to practice the application of anytechnical skills in their roles using the appropriate interpersonal skills needed to provide excellent customer service.Assessment and EvaluationTo assess the success of the training intervention in terms of the skills and knowledge learned by the delegates. Toprovide feedback to each delegate at the end of every training by way of test results and 1:1 feedback on personal style.All course results and feedback to be stored in the training database within 24 hours of course completion. To providefeedback to managers of the results of courses and take any action for any areas of concern. To fully evaluate thesuccess of any training intervention and modify future training, plus brief all other trainers on the changes. To improveand maintain assessment standards.Delegate Support on ProgrammesTo be responsible for delegates whilst on training programmes and to take appropriate actions for absence, sickness andother problems as well as reporting feedback to team leaders and recording it in the training records.Team Support and Personal DevelopmentTo provide support and cover for colleagues within the department. To ensure that each person follows agreed proceduresfor updating notes, materials and database. To ensure that colleagues are aware of any successful training exercises orinterventions and any changes to courses are shared with colleagues. To keep up to date with current thinking ondevelopment issues and technical issues. Be prepared to apply development exercises to themselves before trainingdelegates. Contribute and take part in team meetings, feedback and personal development. |
