Description:

For this role, W2K and W2K3 Server administration experience is essential, including set up, configuration andadministration of Active Directory and maintenance of Exchange services. The work involves both setting up new Windowsservers, and maintaining existing fileservers, anti-virus protection and e-mail systems for business clients using PC andMacintosh computers. PC support skills must be first class while Mac experience is an advantage. Good knowledge ofWAN/LAN technologies is also required. There will also be excellent opportunities to learn about Mac OS X and Windowsconnectivity, especially the integration of Open Directory and Active Directory services. The role will require you to:* Make regular visits to provide PC desktop and server support and consultancy services to clients.* Install and configure new desktop and server hardware and software for business clients from large corporations tosmall family firms.* Be able to configure VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, switches and routers.* Have a practical understanding of structured cabling, patch panels and wireless networks.* Be able to plan, prioritise and arrange client visits to ensure key services are delivered within required timescales.* Help colleagues solve PC problems.* Maintain a broad knowledge of available products and keep abreast of relevant technical developments in the personalcomputer industry.To fulfil these duties successfully, candidates will hold the following desirable characteristics:* Skilful enjoy solving problems for people and get job satisfaction from doing so well.* Friendly you will be working regularly with the same clients and must be able to get on well with their staff.* Cheerful we think it really helps in support work!* Efficient be able to solve problems rapidly.A full UK driving licence is required for this role, as you will be travelling regularly to clients premises. Thisposition is a full-time post commencing December 2005, and will be based at our client's head office near Saffron Walden,but will require travel to clients in Cambridge and London, and occasionally to other sites in the UK. The successfulcandidate will benefit from a salary in the range of GBP 23K to GBP 26K, depending on experience, plus 20 working days holiday(excluding public/bank holidays).
