Java / GIS Developer Earth Observation Imagery

GBP 20,000 to GBP 25,000 per year

Description:

Software developer with strong Java skills and a wide interest in IT /space to develop and support key software/ITsystems involved in earth observation imagery in the evolving commercial space industry and for humanitarian use. Wewould like to hear from Software engineers /software developers with good Java skills and some experience with eitherGIS, satellite planning, remote sensing or similar disciplines. Also of interest - J2EE, Web Services, Apache Tomcat,Jboss, WMS, GIS.You will be involved in Software requirements definition, design, development, and testing. User and developerdocumentation, IT installation and support, Image catalogue and archive management and Supporting the Operations Managerin additional general activities and tasks as required.Experience in mission planning or satellites operations is desirable, but not essential.The benefits package includes 35 days holiday (yes 35 days), pension allowance (10% of salary or can have 10% added tosalary after 3 months), healthcare, professional memberships (IEE etc), subsidised sports facilities, paid overtime,flexible hours and personnel development plans.Is this position what youre looking for?
