Recent Engineering Degree, HND/C or experienced craftsman with a similar engineering qualificationGood practical construction and experimental skills Familiar with instrumentation/light engineering mechanisms, small intricate assemblies, electro-mechanicalenclosures (mouldings and sheet metal) and a broad range of differing materials, commercial parts and manufacturingprocesses. Design of experiments, technical reporting and document compilation Familiar with ISO 9000 or other high quality oriented design/development/manufacturing environment. (SpecificFDA medical device knowledge or familiarity with ISO 46001/13485 would be an added benefit but not essential.) Familiar with raising documentation associated with implementing new designs into manufacture i.e.drawings/inspection reports/assembly aids/work instructions/bills of materials etc. Self-starter with ability to work under own initiative to resolve problems in a timely manner. A practical hands on solution finder. Able to communicate effectively at all levels with suppliers, customers, in house project team peers, seniormanagement and other internal staff. Familiarity with technical engineering drawings, an understanding of BS8888, to be able to work from andunderstand various dimension and tolerance systems.The successful candidate will be joining at the start of a new product development with a newly formed team. There willbe ample opportunity to make a significant contribution with likely extension of contract to take the product developmentfrom concept design through design for manufacture/verification/validation to production release.Note, this is a junior project engineering role not a CAD Engineering role, use of or familiarity with CAE/CAD systems isnot essential. Time spent in front of a CAE/CAD monitor will be minimal as support is available in this respect. Anunderstanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances would be a benefit. A good practical skill level ishowever essential as the successful candidate will spend a considerable amount of time in the build and performanceassessment of various products.Reporting to a Product Design Project Manager |
