: Locomotive Test Engineer We are currently looking for a Test Engineer to work within our Locomotive Test area. Although the role reports to the Test and After Sales Manager, there is liaison with Section Leaders in order to determine priority work. Duties will include the Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic testing/fault finding on a wide range of mainline diesel and electric locomotives. The ability to correctly interpret schematic drawings is essential to this role, as is the ability to undertake priority work in a quick, effective and safe manner. Good communication skills are necessary, as there is internal liaison with most departments within the Company and externally with Customer's Representatives, Agents and Sub-Contractors. The ability to demonstrate a high degree of initiative is fundamental when dealing with non-routine tasks, whilst exercising due care and attention with regard to the safety of other personnel Applicants must also be prepared to work shifts as necessary and also to work offsite at Customers' depots when required. The successful candidate will preferably have a minimum technical qualification of HNC (Electrical/Electronic) and possess a sound knowledge of microprocessor based systems. A minimum of 5 years experience of Locomotive testing is preferred. Experience of working in a High Voltage test environment (voltages of upto 70KV) would be advantageous, but not essential as training would be given.
