: Network Support Engineer to join a leading European ISP. You will part of a 24x7 shift team maintaining and operating the IP networks and Dial-up service. You must have 3+ years experience at 2nd/3rd level support on core backbone issues. In addition you should have a many as possible of Cisco; Juniper; Lucent; CMS; Extreme, Alcatel, Foundry or Catalyst switches; physical media (fibre/cables); IOS, JunOS and TAOS operating systems; and OSPF, BGP, HSRP, VRRP, MPLA and ATM protocols. You will have a good understanding of routing and Ethernet switching to 3rd line support level; possess a basic understanding of services such as WWW, Mail, Backups and Authentication; and have an awareness of security issues. You will be able to communicate effectively with people inside and outside the organisation and be willing to learn new skills. You will maintain and operate the IP networks and dial-up service to an operationally viable state; and you will be involved from the cabling level through to configuration of equipment. The role requires you to act and respond on operational issues escalated by the support teams; and operate new services developed by the development team. The salary will be in the range GBP 30 - 35K with an additional 15% (GBP 4.5 - 5.25K) shift allowance and other benefits. You must already have an unrestricted right to work in the UK as our client will not undertake work permit applications/transfers. |
