We now require a technical guru to join our client's Sales Consulting group in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa)region to help sell their Retail and Supply Chain applications. For this role you need to be proactive and have a can doattitude. You will be part of a group which is dedicated to assisting the sales team to successfully progress bids. Youneed to learn about our client's products quickly and provide the vital technical input to every bid both in the writtenproposals and presentations to customers. Your technical skills must be deep and you must be able to explain and usetechnology with ease!Key responsibilities of the role will require you to:* Work with the sales team to answer RFP/Fri.s, preparing and delivering solution based product presentations anddelivering proof of concepts which meet customer business requirements. Plus, help define how a customer can achieve asignificant return on their investment.* Provide proactive support to sales teams, including system architecture and configurations, technical aspects ofproposals, integration analysis, and technology presentations and demonstrations.* Address any technical question or issue which arises during a sales campaign and set appropriate customer expectations.* Interact with Product Development and Product Management groups to provide and obtain support in sales campaigns.* Work with our Consulting and Implementation group to handover the technical aspects of the project to help ensure asuccessful implementation.To fulfil these duties successfully, applicants will require the following key skills:* Working knowledge of the Operating systems (Microsoft Windows 2000/2003, UNIX and IBM AIX), Relational databases (DB2,Oracle 8/9i, MS/SQL), Application server environments (such as Websphere, Ascential Data Stage), development environments(RPG, J2EE, SQL and .NET) and Networking environments.* Experience in working as a DBA on retail applications* Ability to describe retail applications and how they interact with 3rd party technologies* Proactively run technical meetings with customers, to assess a customer's business problem and recommend appropriatesolutions.* Be comfortable in talking to different audiences, appropriately adjust technical content to meet different audienceknowledge and interest.Candidates will also require a minimum of 5 years' related experience, of which 2 or more years must have involvedworking with a sales team. You will preferably hold a degree (or at least an HND) in Computer/Software Engineering or theequivalent, whilst the following are viewed as desirable:* Professional appearance and behavior and an EU citizen* Valid drivers license and able to drive to client sites* Speaking a second language to English preferably French* Be able to travel within EMEA sometimes at short noticeThe successful candidate will be based in one of our client's local offices in EMEA, preferably North London.
