The Principal Circuit Design Engineer shall,Conceptualise, develop, design Aerospace and Defence products and support equipment in accordance with Customerrequirements and internal Company proceduresProvide support to other departments, suppliers and directly to the end users to ensure the product meets requirements,specifications and is designed for manufacture and assemblyIdentify new technologies; create intellectual property and implement continuous improvement within the assigned ProjectTeams and Circuit Design group to improve efficiency and profitability.Reporting to the assigned Project Leader and supported by the Circuit Design Process Leader, the Principal Circuit DesignEngineer will work independently and proactively to complete engineering tasks to budget at the right quality on-time(cost, quality, schedule).Role and ActivitiesTechnicalProject SupportDesign and develop electronic circuits to project and product requirements as part of a project teamCommission, conduct development and support qualification tests and trials of equipment (on and off-site) design andspecify test equipment as required.Analyse circuits and components using hand calculations, P-Spice and/or Saber, and MatLab SimulinkEvaluate risks using techniques such as FMEA, FEM, design reviews, etc. and mitigate them using development testsPrepare documentation including: BOM, circuit designs, Change Notes, technical reports, test specifications for systemsand sub-assemblies for internal and external circulationProvide circuit design solutions that consider the full lifecycle ('cradle to grave') of the product, monitor productcost and reliability progression during developmentPrepare and give technical presentations as necessaryLiase with Operations Teams not limited to but including:Product Support Dept; with investigations into field service/reliability issuesMarketing Dept; prepare time, material estimates, activity reports, cost / mass models and prepare the technical contentfor bidsProgrammes Dept; prepare time, activity reports, cost / mass models and bidsProduction/Process Eng. Dept; to ensure work, assembly and process instructions and documentation accurately reflects thedesign intent, and that qualified products enter production efficientlyAttend meetings, project and design reviews (On and off site)Provide technical support to our customers, at their premises if necessary situated anywhere in the world (may need totravel)ReportingReport to the assigned Project Leader for project and product matters including day to day personnel aspects such assickness and week to week task assignments and matters of employment, holiday, training, salary, performance,professional development; and to the Circuit Design Process Leader on technical and engineering design process issues.The Principal Circuit Design Engineer does not have any direct reports, but may be expected to manage project teammembers, sub-contractors, consultants, etc. as the need arises.The Principal Circuit Design Engineer shall work in accordance with the requirements of Company procedures to ensureproduct documentation is adequate and approved for flight.Support, or where applicable act as, the Project Leader to ensure products meet customer requirements and deliveryschedules.Working ConditionsWorking in a modern and tidy open plan office using latest Circuit Design techniques and a suite of design softwareincluding Protel for schematic capture. Having access to a development laboratory in which the environment and the toolsare provided to ensure the Principal Circuit Design Engineer can function efficiently.The Principal Circuit Design Engineer will work as a member of multidisciplinary engineering team and could occasionallyneed to work alone. |
