Description:

PRINCIPAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Manage and undertake a range of safety consultancy, management and analysis activities on a wide variety of Defenceprojects. Technical activities, including: Review & Develop best practice in safety management and associated activities. Assess safety requirements for industry and government technical departments. Facilitate stakeholder workshops covering safety management policy and processes. Lead the provision of safety management training. Analyse safety data, recommendations on and reviews of safety policy, interpretation of legislation. Conduct Independent Safety Auditor role. Produce associated safety reports. Technical assurance of safety project deliverables. Management activities to include: Compete lead for the defence safety assignments. Project Management and Client liaison. Staff Management and mentor of safety engineers. Resource and Budget Management. Support to Business Development including bid preparation.EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDEssential Minimum 2:1 degree in Science, Mathematics or Engineering subject. Experienced Safety manager with minimum of 5-7 years experience of carrying out Safety related tasks on Defenceprojects and Programmes in land, sea and air environments. Employment or working experience in a safety-engineering environment in a consultancy, industry (Defence preferred) orgovernment service. Knowledge of defence, National and International safety standards, procedures and processes. Understanding or Knowledge of safety tools, e.g. Fault Tree, FMECA, Cassandra. Working knowledge of MS Access, MS Project, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint. Presentable, with good communications skills (both written and oral). A proactive, highly organised and motivated manager.Desirable Bachelors or Masters degree in safety engineering or a safety related discipline (e.g. risk management). Project and budget management experience. Used to communicating at management level (both written and oral). Hold a clean driving licence.PACKAGE INCLUDES 22 days holiday per annum plus Public Holidays plus 3 designated days over the Christmas/ New Year close. Life Assurance Cover of 4 x annual salary.
