Type of work undertaken by the groupThe Power Products Group specialises in the design and development of electrical products for high volume manufacture.Typical products range from the design of novel consumer appliances, precision surgical tools and electric vehicledrives. We combine highly creative lateral thinking with excellent technical skills and a broad base of industryexperience to form a powerful development team. Our work ranges from undertaking complete product developments fromconcept to market, to consulting with our clients on their technology, strategy or development processes.Specific responsibilitiesYou will be taking the lead role in planning, proposal generation, liaison with clients, management of a team of 2 - 6people and hands-on product development. You will also use your strong technical skills to make a significantcontribution to development projects and to participate in consultancy work within client companies.Minimum requirementsTo meet the demanding requirements of this role you will have an excellent first degree in mechanical engineering or arelated discipline. You should also have 5 or more years of industrial experience in product development, with a provenability to manage a team of engineers and technicians. There should be evidence of excellence within the work you havebeen responsible for. You will have a creative approach to problem solving and concept generation, an appreciation of theuse of engineering analysis in product development and have had hands-on experience of 3D CAD, rapid prototyping, someFEA or CFD. Direct experience of product development in the consumer product or automotive industries would bebeneficial, including knowledge of high volume manufacturing processes, electromechanical technology and six sigmaquality systems.
