To this end they are looking to recruit a Principal Safety Engineer (Nuclear).ResponsibilitiesThe job consists of several relatively distinct parts, the proportion of time spent on each depending on the work intakeat any particular time.The responsibilities for this post include, but are not limited to, the following: To bring an expertise to develop and market a nuclear safety capability. This will be done through close relationshipwith the Consultancy and nuclear marketing teams and close contact with clients at all levels. To conduct 'hands-on' nuclear safety work where the engineer will work closely with the nuclear design team(s) and,where a project is of significant size, will move into the project team to conduct nuclear safety tasks and preparesafety documentation. Much of this work will be undertaken as part of an alliance team, working in multi-disciplinedteams and requiring visits to clients and possibly occasional co-location. To integrate the nuclear safety into the engineering design process to maximise efficiencies to the joint benefit ofthe Group and its customers. To provide nuclear safety technical support and costing to bid teams. To educate and train engineers in the area of expertise. To conduct work as directed. To meet Group Quality standards, project budgets and programmes.Skills and ExperienceIdeally experienced in: Marketing nuclear safety The production of cost estimates and technical safety responses for bids The use and application of Probabilistic and Deterministic Safety Analysis Hazard Identification Studies (HAZID) Safety Integrity Level analysis (preferably with experience in BS EN 61508) Fault Tree Analysis FMEA The use of Nuclear Safety Assessment Principles and ALARP arguments Development and production of Design Substantiation Reports Development and production of nuclear safety casesYou will possess a good degree in a related discipline and have at least ten years relevant experience. You will beexpected to lead and develop nuclear safety case capability, with a proactive and flexible attitude to growing Groupbusiness in this sector.The ability to communicate well as an accepted specialist in this field is essential. You will be able to demonstrate anefficient, practical and proven ability in writing and implementing nuclear safety cases. You will possess a soundawareness of the commercial aspects of project contracts.
