Description:

Principal EngineerMajor Responsibilities:The Principal Engineer will act as lead technical authority for proposals, systems integration work, and engineeringdesign and evaluation of tactical wireless communication networks. The role will provide supervision to a small group ofengineer technicians supporting international sales and systems integration work.This new role has arisen due to plans to expand the capability of the UK office to provide International sales supportand grow capability for systems integration.Specification:Min 5years operating in a Senior Systems role, primarily with Communications technology.Min HNC level education, engineering or related discipline.Must have broad experience with communications technologies, networking and Systems integrationKnowledge of tactical military communications interfaces and methodologies (STANAG, Mil and Def standards etc)Good knowledge of radio technology (HF/VHF/UHF/Multiband technology)Networks / Radio / Wireless design experience, Communications architectureKnowledge of IP/Ethernet/Network capability, standards and protocolsUnderstands how wireless networks can be integrated and tied into fixed networks (LAN/WAN) and PC technology.Personal profileYou will be knowledgeable about the communications sector generally and take an unhealthy interest in new and emergingtechnologies. You will be entrepreneurial by nature, but will to utilize existing designs and solutions (COTS) andintegrate them where possible.Although primarily you are an experienced systems design engineer, you will also be a confident consultant, gettinginvolved with clients at the requirement capture stages of projects and a natural leader and manager, willing to lead thebuild and development of a new department that will be integral to the companies future success in the European market.Naturally you will be ambitious and may have the desire to operate at Technical Director level, with a major globalorganization in the not too distant future.Must haves;Experience with military communication systemsExperience with tactical radio communicationsExperience with major MOD or international government proposalsCommunication system integration experienceFormal University engineering degree BSc EE or BSc CScSome great to haves:Experience with HF and VHF/UHF military communication equipmentDirect integration experience with tactical radios into fixed networksExperience with tactical satellite communicationsExperience with IP networksExperience with VOIP networks
