Description:

Our client is the key operator in the maintenance and upgrading of railway infrastructure in the UK and is responsiblefor managing some of the largest and most complex engineering programmes in Europe. Its key asset groups are Track,Signalling, Telecoms, Civils, Electrification, Plant and Estates, where the investment is measured in multi GBP billions.An opportunity now exists for a high profile leader to take accountability for a large team of engineers working on manyvaried contracts located in the South of the UKThe Role Reporting to the programme Engineering Director, this high profile role will carry a responsibility for circa GBP 50million per annum of engineering management programme strategies specifically within signalling andtelecomm-communications. As projects are multi-disciplined, it requires close liaison with sponsors and key stakeholders to ensure robustdelivery and input during early definition phases. This will require knowledge of project financial control and programmeanalysis To pro-actively control the risk management of capital investment programmes and business performance Pivotal to the role is the successful management of suppliers and staff to adhere to all corporate and legislativestandards and specifically those relating to the Safety, Quality and Environment The development of the multi-faceted team to ensure it is always effective, flexible, focused and highly skilledThe Requirements You will be educated to Degree level or possess chartered status of a relevant professional body and have ademonstrable track record of successful delivery of complex / long term high value projects A strong dynamic leader you will be an excellent communicator and influencer who has achieved success through managinglarge, multi-functional teams within either the rail or construction industry You should have a genuine lead from the front attitude, combined with a natural flair for prioritising key impactiveelements of the role, particularly Health & Safety, Technical, Commercial and Risk Management Knowledge of sponsoring Lean Events ideally Six Sigma would be advantageous You should be genuinely ambitious as this role offers a genuine career opportunity for someone who has a Right FirstTime mentality
