Applicants must be willing to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the UK if requested.Key responsibilities1) Process ownerResponsibility for planning, co-coordinating and reporting the activities of (5) direct reportsResource the workload from within team and by the use of sub-contract designers, advising the Engineering manager whereshortfall or under utilisation is likely to occurTo report the progress of all projects on a weekly basisMaintain portions of the business management system in the role of 'Process owner'To provide guidance to team members in terms of the general direction for site and group based product and sub-systemdesignMaintain and facilitate communication between team and other internal dept.s as well as at group levelProduct safety guru' Understand, advise upon and interpret for others the European and other international standards forproduct compliance2) Project managementTo provide detailed specifications for products or sub-systems based on product briefs created by the EngineeringManager(s), local or groupEncourage, facilitate, develop and justify conceptual designsTo advise SPM on the technical feasibility of special customer projectsTo plan, coordinate, check and release system designs in the form of revision-controlled documentation to in-house andexternal manufacturersOrganise and facilitate design review meetingsOrganise and facilitate design verificationProject manage through the design, purchasing, build and test phases of developmentEnsure that integration of major system elements occurs, interfacing with other design disciplines as necessaryParticipate in detailed design activitiesConstraintsTo act within the limits of the quality systemTo work with minimal direct supervisionStandards of performanceTo provide the business with designs which meet with functional, safety, legal and cost targetsTo meet with the timescale expectations of the internal' customersMotivated team, low turnoverExperienceEngineering degree, electrical discipline5 years experience in the design of control systems (hardware and software) for special purpose production or researchequipment, ideally involving toxic chemicals, preferably with a background in the semiconductor manufacturing industryAt least one year of man management experienceGood working knowledge of the following EU directives: Machinery, LVD, EMC, Atex, PEDUse of all of the following tools for design work: E-Plan, AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS VisioUse of all of the following tools for planning/presentation/reporting: MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS WordPersonal QualitiesPositive, 'can-do' attitudePro-activeTeam playerAnalyticalThoroughConsistentAccurateGood communicator, clearly spokenRemains calm and objective under pressure
