Our client are involved in the design, manufacture and support of electronics control systems and utilities forcommercial and military aircraft.Having recently won a very high profile contract to supply a unique and innovative system for a major commercial aircraftmanufacturer, our client now requires a project leader to act as the technical cornerstone for this, and related,projects.The overall purpose of the Project Leader will be to ensure that assigned products satisfy the agreed technical andsafety requirements, whilst still meeting time and cost constraints.Key responsibilities include:* Responsibility for all the technical aspects of the design of the product to ensure that the design meets the companysrequirements of performance, recurring costs and reliability.* Management of all technical aspects of assigned projects such that the customers safety and functional requirementsare met and that the product is of acceptable quality.* To ensure design reviews are sufficiently challenging so that all key issues are identified and mitigated, as well asdeveloped.* Manage a multidisciplinary team of Engineers to meet the project objectives and to ensure that the necessary tools andequipment are made available at appropriate times.* To resolve technical problems associated with assigned products.* Provide the prime point of contact with the customer and sub-contractors on technical matters.Objective Qualities:Ideally degree qualified in electronics (with a minimum degree classification of 2:1)Candidates are likely to have at least 3 years experience of project leadership or project management in an aerospace orautomotive engineering environment. Ideally, they will possess at least 5 years experience of working in the aerospaceindustry (civil) including electronic products.They will have a broad skill base of general-purpose mechanical engineering. A working understanding of more than oneengineering discipline from the following is essential:* Mechanical able to conduct moderate level stress analysis* Electronics/Power an understanding of circuits and cables* Thermal* SoftwareExperience of managing or leading a full project, from design stage through to development, testing and completion, isalso required |
