Description:

A. PURPOSE OF THE JOB Identify areas of risk presented by processes and substances Provide suitable and sufficient risk assessments for the activities carried out Assist the Quality and Safety Department in providing a proactive approach to the health and safety culture. Provide assistance to local managers with regard to identification of hazards and implementation of necessary controlsto minimise / remove risks from activities. Provide assistance and advice to all Production departments on Safety matters relating to identified risks and riskassessments.B. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Participate in the maintenance, improvement and review of the Quality and Safety Departments Risk Assessment Databaseand its contents. Provide assistance to managers and other personnel in the implementation of appropriate controls following riskassessments. Carry out risk assessments as required by departmental managers. Assist local managers in the development of staff briefing notes following risk assessments. Establish systems for ensuring that risk assessments are kept up to date and that corrective measures are beingimplemented in a timely manner. Issue of regular Key Performance Indicators and reports detailing status of risk assessments carried out and theprogress of any corrective measures Assist in ensuring all personnel are kept up to date with risk assessment developments. Assist in the management of Quality and Safety department documentation and filing systems.C. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Knowledge of Railway Industry Rules, Regulations and Standards for Operational and engineering activities. Knowledge of Safety Critical Working Regulations Knowledge of up to date risk assessment techniques and management principles. The post holder must have completed an approved Risk Assessor course. The post holder must have completed or be prepared to complete Institute of Safety and Health instructional courses onoccupational safety and health. Some experience of Quality and Safety Management Systems, process development and change management is desirable. An aptitude for independent problem solving along with self-motivation and good time management skills. Familiarity with international Quality and Safety standards.D. WORK PATTERN38 hour attendance week of which 35 hours are to be spent workingE. DIMENSIONSFINANCIAL AUTHORITY DIRECT Quality and Safety budget is incorporated into Production Department Requirement / Cost Centres.INDIRECT AND NATUREThe post has a direct impact on all staff and the ability of those staff to safely produce a quality product.
