Our client is seeking a Senior GIS Consultant to lead and manage its team of Geographic Information Specialists and to beinvolved with the business development process (contribute to bids & proposals, etc). You will need a degree in ageographical, agricultural, environmental, ecological or other applied scientific discipline. Preferably you will have apostgraduate degree in a scientific discipline (or demonstrable experience) along with 4-5 years professional experienceworking in applied GIS consultancy/research. Expertise in the use & development of ESRIs GIS software suite, includingknowledge of ESRI programming languages (ArcObjects, Avenue &/or AML). Working knowledge of data management usingrelational databases. Numerical / statistical analysis & report writing. General knowledge of current agri-environmentalconcerns & issues relating to the management of the countryside. Experience in the delivery of GIS solutions andfamiliarity of datasets at local & regional levels. Good knowledge UK environmental data. Experience business developmentand working with a range of customers. Project management. Highly desirable skills include: Familiarity with theapplication of environment models in a GIS framework. Programming skills in a higher level language (eg Visual Basic,.Net). Knowledge of European environmental data. Familiarity with government, government agencies and private sectorbodies. Knowledge of social & economic datasets at regional & national levels. |
