Description:

: Senior Hardware Design Engineer - Hertfordshire You will be working in a small design team, so a broad knowledge of hardware design is essential (FPGA/CPLDs, High-speed processor system design, 16/32-bit embedded systems etc). Although , most of the work will involve both schematic capture and PCB layout on small PCB's. Working on a single board with a defined architecture doing the schematic capture, PCB layout then onto testing and approvals. The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will be fully responsible for all the hardware aspects of new products, from initial design through to final technical handover, together with ensuring the continuous improvement of existing product hardware. Responsibilities To take full responsibility for the design and development of the Companys security products and associated equipment including: New product specification Project planning Detailed design Development (including management of any sub-contractors) Testing and acceptance Approval testing Handover to production and post-production technical support Experience The following are essential requirements for this position: 8+ years experience in design of 16/32-bit embedded systems Experience in leading projects from concept to sign-off High-speed processor system design, preferably X-Scale based. Power circuit design Low-power design PCB Layout of complex Multilayer Fine-Pitch PCB assemblies Mentor Graphics BoardStation CAD suite FPGA/CPLDs (Xilinx, Altera) DFM/DFT ??Design for Compliance (FCC, CE, UL, FIPS) Liaison with CEMs. Experience of one or more of the following would also be an advantage: Design to meet upcoming RoHI requirements. PCI, Ethernet, USB Tempest experience Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
