RESPONSIBLE FOR: Any subordinate Instrumentation designer staff working on the same project. JOB OBJECTIVES: LeadInstrumentation design input to small projects, or carry out design tasks as part of a large project team.SKILLS REQUIRED: Second level further education technical qualification (eg HNC). At least five years relevant designexperience using AutoCAD. Experienced in at least own function. Team leadership capability. Ability to work in a teamenvironment. Site experience. Experience of Instrumentation designs for petrochemical or other high-hazard applications.Knowledge of ATEX Directives and their implications on Instrumentation designs. OTHER MATTERS: Mobility and flexibilityto work anywhere in home country essential. RESPONSIBILITIES: Carry out design activities and calculations, including theproduction of 2D and 3D CAD drawings, schedules, other documents, manhour estimates for CAD work, interpreting clientstechnical specifications and other related activities, to meet project requirements. Lead the design activities of selfand other discipline designers on a project, to ensure delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality. Check the work ofmore junior staff to delivery a quality functional input to projects. Ensure that own work and that of more juniordesigners on a project complies with all necessary corporate, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures,to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained. Provide functional support andguidance to more junior staff to develop both them as individuals and the capability of the team as a whole. Work withother engineering functions on a project to ensure inter-disciplinary alignment and coherence. Carry out designactivities at client site as required, to meet individual project or client needs. RANGE & SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES: Worksunder general management, within defined procedures. May supervise work of others on projects. Works with peers fromother disciplinesNATUURE OF PROBLEMS & SOLVING THEM:Address and resolve any functional issues within a project through use of technical capability and judgement, applyingown or colleagues skills as appropriate. LEVEL OF DISCRETION: Plans and prioritises own work and that of more juniordesigners. Refers any issues that threaten project delivery to manager. Checks work of more junior designers. Workswithin procedures at all times. |
