Our Client a specialist design and construction contractor with interests worldwide in the oil gas and petrochem industry is seeking a Senior Logistics Specialist to start as soon as possible.Skills/Experience required:Good general education.Practical experience and knowledge of:laws and regulations applying to the national and international movement of goods.road/rail transport and marine shipping practices and procedures.related insurance practices and procedures.purchasing techniques.national and international finance and payment practices and procedures.At least 10 years experience in the shipping and transportation industry comprising:At least 5 years in a Project environment.At least 5 years in the petrochemical or related industries.Active participation in a relevant professional institute or society is preferred.Job Scope:Ensure that applicable laws and regulations are complied with and the the Company's ethical business standards are maintained. Direct and co-ordinate the movement of project materials equipment and data from origin to the required destination in accordance with established procedures schedules and budgets. Also control costs and initiate plans to support forecasting and volume management. Arrange and co-ordinate the movement of Company data and employee personal effects as required in accordance with established procedures.Develop foster and maintain sound working relationships.Support the Expediting and Logistics Manager in seeking out new suppliers and new transportation methods.Co-ordinate with the Manager for information on and experience of worldwide import and export regulations and procedures techniques for movement or project materials and the prompt and efficient movement of company data between countries.Recommend equipment and material transportation routes and methods; procedures for handling duties import/export licencing and documentation procedures transport insurance strategies etc.Direct and lead the Logistics function.Co-ordinate with Construction Management the movement of over-sized loads.Co-ordinate with Finance on matters relating to handling of VAT etc.Ensure the HSE policy is implemented.Expected to be able to apply extensive experience and knowledge of the Logistics function and its role within an EPC project to the analysis of problems to the development of strategies and plans for specific projects and circumstances and to the resolution of problems and prevention of their recurrence.Salary: cGBP 45000 |
