Operating profits in the year endedFebruary 2004 were GBP 5.3 million.Senior Mechanical EngineerReporting to the Mechanical Design manager, you will be responsible for the design of electro mechanical instruments,running significant development projects and leading small project teams (designers and technicians).Minimum qualification requirements:Honours degree in mechanical engineering from an established university (probably not a former polytechnic or college offurther education), chartered engineer status might be an advantage.Experience requirements: At least five years industrial experience, ideally gained in the high technology, specialist instrument /special purpose machinery sectors. Proven track record of achievement and technical problem solving. Comfortable with significant design and project management responsibilities. Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous: Precision mechanisms, structures, pressurevessels, motion controls, transmissions and actuators.Instrument and sensor development, design and material selectionfor corrosive, high temperature / high pressure environments. A basic understanding of electronics and computer control systems would also be an advantage. Computer literate, CAD / CAE skills desirable. Good commercial awareness gained in a dynamic and rapidly growing manufacturing organisation.Personal attributes: Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic engineer. Good team working ability, willing to exchange ideas with other team members.
