Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (Web Specialist)Responsible to: Chief Technological Officer (CTO)Responsible for:Job PurposeThe primary purpose of this role is to perform requirements analysis, code construction and testing of softwarecomponents in adherence to departmental requirements for the remainder of the company.Key Accountabilities/Duties To develop software / technical solutions in whatever languages are deemed appropriate as identified by the ChiefTechnological Officer (CTO). Examples of which are Visual Basic, Visual C++, VB.NET, C#, Java; Be able to define requirements, functional specifications, and testing requirements; Identify, analyze and correct discrepancies within existing code in response to reported errors; To assist in the support of existing software/hardware solutions that are external to the scope of the internal networkor the regular maintenance of them; To be responsible for ensuring that defined Quality Assurance processes are implemented and carried through for all ITprojects in which the post-holder is involved; To knowledge-share with other developers where directed to do so to provide overflow/holiday/fail-over support To provide pre-sales support in association with the Director of ISG/Project Manager to clients when needed To assist the Project Manager in planning and tracking progress on projects, maintaining up-to-date documentationincluding content channel lists, usage statistics, change management, project files (paper/digital), etc. To liase as appropriate with the Project Manager and/or other departments to ensure the clear communication andactioning of instructions relating to IT projects.Personal Attributes Required An attention to detail, rigour and willingness to take responsibility for all work and code produced; Ability to work within a team and to apply systematic thinking to the resolution of programming problems; Ability to meet challenging deadlines, and in the event of difficulty or delay, to communicate this to the team leaderas early as possible; A demonstrable willingness to learn and develop skills; Must use initiative and be a self-starter; Must have good interpersonal skills combined with good written and verbal communication skills.Qualifications, Knowledge and Preferred Experience/Skills Required At least seven years work experience and educated to GCE/GCSE standardorAt least five years work experience and educated to A-Level StandardorAt least three years work experience and educated to Degree Standard (non-engineering)orAt least two years work experience and educated to Degree Standard (engineering/Science based) Educated to GCE/GCSE standard or higher At least four years experience in the followingo HTML, Javascript & Web Page Development At least two year experience in the followingo VB Script and accessing databases within web pages using ODBC. At least one years experience in the followingo XML/XSL. At least three years experience in the followingo At least one high and one low level language/development environmentor two Low Level Languagesor one high and one structured language as defined below Low Level Languages Include Assembler C/C++ (within Windows GDI) MFC C# Java Delphi High Level Languages Include Visual Basic VB .NET Perl Python Structured Language Modula 2 Oberon Experience SQL Server desirable Experience of designing solutions from the ground up essential PC Literate with solid working experience of MS Office Knowledge of and enthusiasm for Web/New Media technologies Knowledge of the industry and relevant technologies and advantage (preferable through regular reading of industrypress/magazines)
