Set Top Box, STB, MPEG, Video, DVB, Test, Validation, QA, Scripts, C, C++, Linux, VxWorks, Bristol, South West, UK.HAVE YOU GOT APPROX 2-3 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN A SOFTWARE TESTING ROLE WORKING WITH MPEG, DVB OR STB TECHNOLOGIES??My client, a global leader in wired and wireless broadband communications semiconductors, are currently looking for anexperienced Software Test/Validation Engineer to join their expanding team in Bristol.Working as a key member of the testing team, the role will be challenging and varied.This role requires an individual to play multiple roles. Part of the job will involve expanding and maintaining thesatellite/cable headend infrastructure (headend management), rest of the job will be related to test and verificationactivities.The prospective candidate will be required to create and assist in generation of a system level test plan and implementscripts and application infrastructure to support test procedures. Test reports will be generated for phased releases.The individual should have intimate familiarity with RF networks, MPEG streamers, modulators, up-converters andcombiners, amplifiers and related signal integrity issues related to an RF distribution. The test and verificationactivities would centre around conceiving, designing and implementation of test plan and procedures for system levelqualification of a highly integrated system on a chip based set-top-box.Essential Requirements:Degree QualifiedAt least 2 years commercial testing experience in cable, satellite headends, digital video, MPEG and Set Top BoxesLinux and/or VxWorksExposure to software development methodology - a knack for software testingA good team player with excellent oral and written communication skillsDesirable:Exposure to MPEG, AVC standards.Experience with C/C++ language and scripting tools and languages.Exposure to Issue Tracking and Version control tools.Exposure to ClearcaseTest and verification long-term commitment is desired. |
