Description:

Due to retirement, a new SQI Engineer is required in our Darlington Operation to maintain and improve supplierperformance to meet internal and external customer's ever increasing demands.To reduce the risk from forced and strategic source changes and support any corporate cost reduction programmes whilstensuring consistency of quality and production.Cummins are a world leader in the design and manufacture of Diesel Engines.A Multinational company, with headquarters in Indiana, USA.The largest independent manufacturer in our power range. Cummins products are used in Automotive, Industrial, Marine,Power Generation, Mining, Construction and Rail applications.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure that suppliers are aware of Cummins standards and expectations.Develop new suppliers to enable them to satisfy Cummins Quality requirements.Link with all the Engine plants that use the parts and Global Purchasing groups around the world.Lead problem solving activities to ensure root cause is established and corrective/ preventative measures are in place.Provide our suppliers with guidance and training on Cummins standards, quality tools and problem solving techniques.Recognise suppliers that perform better than expectations.Support the war room process for underperforming suppliers.Minimise concur managed expense by travelling only when necessary at the lowest cost option.Work the SQIP process as defined in QSP 2-04 and the Cummins Supplier Handbook.Develop/ lead proactive quality improvement plans (supply base) that will support our customer's needs.Liaise/ lead/ represent the quality improvement functions at plant locations.Essential Skills:- Technical degree or equivalent experience with an HNC qualification.- Knowledge of Quality tooling and methodology- Engineering standards and manufacturing processes.Cummins would like you to apply via their own website so that your details can be seen and actioned the following day byone of their Hiring Managers.
