The purpose of this role will be to provide professional expertise within the Local Plans Team to support the statutory Planning function, in particular contributing to meeting the Strategic Planning Groups workload to achieve its aims, objectives, statutory obligations and targets. The postholder will be part of a team of 4 professional staff, providing a statutory service to the people within the Borough, working to ensure that the Borough's Local Plan is kept up to date, monitored and implemented in accordance with the provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, and assisting with contaminated land responsibilities. The team forms part of the Strategic Planning Group whose wider responsibilities include Regional Planning policy work, Structure Plan preparation, and the development of transportation policy for the town. The aims of the Strategic Planning Group are to provide a quality planning service to its customers and improvement in the living environment for the public whilst assisting economic development and the regeneration of the town.
