Vacancy:Systems EngineerStatus:PermanentSalary:N/ARef:TSS003Area:LondonPosition Concept:The Systems Engineer (Bio-FP) will be a member of the UK Company Engineering Support Team (EST) to provide expert systemsengineering support in the form of technical advice, guidance, on-site and remote hands-on assistance, engineeringsolution development, and proposal preparation. The EST is responsible for the development of proposals, solutions,presentations, and other technical documentation as required in the support of the UK Company Civil and SecuritySolutions Business Area and Business Development. This business area focuses primarily upon law enforcement programmes atthe national and levels, Home Office programmes associated with criminal justice and Border Control, with a common use ofIdentity Management processes and technologies. The EST works closely with Business Development as well as operationalteams within the Business Area. EST members work as a team or as individuals assigned to short-term projects, dependingupon existing business needs. EST members will be required to support Proposal Development, initial Programme start-up,Technical Team recruiting, Tiger Teams, response to staff shortfalls, and the preparation of Studies and White Papers.EST members will, on an exception basis, rotate job assignments with staff assigned to long term posts on existingprogrammes, for the purposes of continued technical growth and career development. The EST will be based in London, butmay be required to provide support to locations outside London, including short-term international business developmentand proposal activitiesDuties / Responsibilities:The System Engineer (AFIS) will be a member of the EST, and will be required to develop technology models, test beds, andtrade study analyses. The System Engineer (AFIS) will provide expert support as required to the ongoing MetropolitanPolice Service SIS project, and will consider this project as top priority in terms of tasking. The System Engineer(AFIS) must have an established background and experience in Systems Integration. The primary job responsibility will beto develop technical solutions to requirements for complex problems focussing on automatic fingerprint identificationsystems AFIS, however, the SE will be required to support other biometric technologies as well. The SE will be requiredto maintain with regard to knowledge of existing and new AFIS technologies, and to act as the EST specialist in AFIS. TheSE may be required to develop technology presentations for delivery to proposal teams, customer project teams, andinternal Lockheed Martin organisations in support of business development activities. Analyse and develop technicalresponses to project requirements and specifications. Ensure technical responses and solutions map closely to customerbusiness process requirements. Work closely with business process, information security, and system architects.Preparation of Studies and White Papers to support issue resolution. Responding to Programmes requests for help withproblem resolution. Develop technical solutions to complex problems using extensive expertise in subject area.Qualifications/Experience Required:Extensive experience with automatic fingerprint identification technologies.Experience of facilitating solutions with customers/suppliers.Experience of whole product life cycle from conception through to implementation and support.Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree; or 4 years ofprofessional experience required with a related PhD or JD; or no experience required with a MD. Considered an emergingauthority.This position is only open to candidates who are eligible or who currently hold a valid work permit for the UK. You mustalso be willing to apply for a security clearance.
