Job DescriptionCore Responsiblities:Business Development for the structures team in London to drive ambitious expansion plans for that group in a variety of sectors.Participation in the Business for London and the South East.Day-to-day management of the structures team, reporting to Structures Director Day-to-day liaison with structures teams in other offices.Financial management of projects.Ensuring delivery of a quality service to all clients. Technical input on projects: providing guidance to project staff, expertise in particular technical areas, and developing office capability in new areas.Participation in the training of younger engineers.PERSON SPECIFICATION: Knowledge Required.Good understanding of UK building structures market and good contacts with others in construction in London and the South East developers, architects, public and private clients, etc.Sound understanding of financial and technical aspects of small to large projects.Broad up-to-date experience in the application of building design standards in a variety of structural materials: concrete, steel and timber as a minimum; experience in glass and masonry would also be beneficial.An understanding of the needs of clients in different sectors.Experience of buildings design in different sectors.Thorough familiarity with standard building details.Qualifications required. Ideally MIStructE or FIStructE; MICE/FICE as an alternative.Skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills to allow good integration within the existing team.Excellent communication skills.Demonstrable people and project management skills.Leadership skills.Demonstrable experience of running teams.Personal qualities. Enthusiastic individual.Must be a team player.Willingness to accept responsibility.Willingness to support others.Determination and single-mindedness to achieve the financial targets and expansion targets set for the office and to contribute to the financial success of the firm as a whole.Desire to provide excellent service equally to internal and external clients.Willingness to innovate. |
