Description:

Major rail company requires Ultrasonics Supervisor to manage the efficient provision of ultrasonic testing resources to meet the requirements of standards and agreed broken rail mitigation plans.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Ensure that ultrasonic rail testing is carried out by staff with the required competencies and that good quality work is achieved.- Identify the recruitment, training and development needed to provide sufficient numbers of competent staff to delivery the ultrasonic testing plans.- Ensure that all ultrasonic testing is included in annual and quarterly work plans.- Deliver the ultrasonic testing plan to time and quality and within agreed resources and budgets. Maximise the effective use of people, plant and material resources.- Ensure that rails are inspected and ultrasonically tested to prescribed standards. Ensure that mandatory minimum actions to protect traffic are applied in accordance with standards and distribute testing outputs to Track Maintenance Engineers in a timely manner.- Control and brief standards and procedures to relevant staff. Ensure staff receive the information and briefings required for them to be able to complete their tasks safely and efficiently. Prepare and review method statements.- Plan and undertake surveillance and audit checks to ensure compliance with standards and procedures.- Ensure that information is generated that enables asset data and associated systems to be kept up to date.SAFETY DETAILS (Candidates must have ALL these Safety Details)- The job holder is required to hold a relevant TRACK SAFETY competency- This is a SAFETY CRITICAL WORK POST (Appendix 4, Chapter 2, Railway Safety Case)SPECIFIC SAFETY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Instil a strong safety culture in own staff and ensure delivery of continuous safety improvements.- Ensure the safe delivery of maintenance through the activities of the Company's maintenance and contractors' personnel.- Ensure the health, safety and welfare of own staff.- Ensure the effective identification and management of all risks within maintenance delivery.ESSENTIAL SKILLS - Able to absorb and recall large quantities of information quickly- Able to effectively communicate to all levels of people inside and outside the business- Able to influence decision-making- Awareness of Ultrasonic Testing techniques- Supervisory skills and man management- Organisational Ability- Communication skills- Practical experience within Civil Engineering Disciplines.DESIRABLE SKILLS- Qualified Ultrasonic Operator- Supervisory Qualification and advantage.CAPABILITIES- Influence and Impact- Achievement Drive- Analytical Thinking- Commercial Awareness
