My Client is a well established and expanding financial software house, serving the UK and International asset financeindustries.Your primary responsibility is to develop and support their Enterprise products on an Oracle/VB platform. You will workin a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary team of programmers liaising closely with Business Analysts and Testers, oftento demanding project timescales.Reporting to a Project Manager, your natural desire is to develop robust, high quality code that will be used by clientsin their business operations worldwide.Main activities:Working on new projects, Core product or supporting existing clients, your focus will be on high quality programmingincluding: Production of detailed technical specifications/documented analysis Completion of coding using a combination of VB6, Oracle PL/SQL and crystal reports. This may vary from developingsubstantial new modules, to enhancements to existing programmes, to bug fixing during Integration testing phases Completion of programmer QA and secondary QA for colleagues.Please note, analyst programmers are required to operate in accordance with company Programming standards and follow laiddown Project procedures. It is important that all programmers achieve an understanding of the financial aspects of thesystem.Other activities:As required and depending on your skills, knowledge and experience, you may also be involved in any/all of the followingactivities, for which training is provided as appropriate: Production of EXE & schema versions of the system for internal and client release. Contributing to matters relating to future developments (e.g. the use of XML formats in our Proposal handling systems) Providing team DBA support, ensuring effective management and control of client/project schema. Completion of physical transfer of data from client system including analysis required to identify and resolve issues. Business analysis and production of documentation suitable for internal use and/or client review and sign off. This caninclude face-to-face discussions with clients and system demonstrations. Assisting with the planning and execution of test plans for integration and process testing, including raising ofdefect logs. Production of training materials & delivery of training on client site. Providing assistance with client queries, remotely or face to face on client site. MentoringSkills and Experience 3 years programming experience in a VB AND Oracle/crystal environment You MUST have experience of the finance industry or related businesses such as banking, insurance Able to work effectively in a team as well as independently e.g. in complex problem solving, detailed specifications Able to produce work of consistently high quality , including handling complex algorithms and other calculations. |
