As Senior Technical Professional the employee will be involved in projects from concept to detailed design through to construction, testing and handover, and will take an active role in the design of electrical systems to required specifications, focusing on cost, schedule, safety, reliability, and quality. the employee will be working in a multi-disciplinary project team, which is likely to include engineers from other specialisms including mechanical, structural, civil and instrumentation liaising with clients and contractors. the employee will select and apply the relevant codes and standards applicable to the electrical systems design, and be involved in designing systems and equipment e.g. HV and LV switchgear, transformers and UPS systems. In addition, the employee will be creating and interpreting philosophies, design specifications, data sheets, schematics and layout drawings for oil and gas onshore and offshore installations, and researching suitable engineering solutions for extreme environments such as temperatures from -50 to 50 degrees. The successful candidate will have a minimum of a degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant industry experience, as well as Chartered engineer status or qualifications and experience at several levels necessary to gain chartership. Ideally the successful candidate will have gained experience in an oil and gas industry, nonetheless, candidates from a manufacturing and/ or maintenance and design modifications background will be considered. The Candidate must have experience of creating and interpreting complex schematics or other electrical drawings and design expertise with one of the following; HV and/or LV switchgear, UPS systems and transformers. the employee will have an understanding of providing support for mechanical packages e.g. diesel or gas turbine generators and HV/LV motors and adequate understanding of hazardous areas. Knowledge of system studies software and calculations would be an advantage.
