Senior IT Audit Manager

If you're seeking an exciting new challenge building and shaping an embryonic IT audit function then you won't want to miss this "Greenfield" opportunity This £2.5bn US multinational business currently has a financial/operational audit function of six and is now also looking to bring it's IT audit function in house to improve knowledge retention within the business. The function is currently outsourced and the provider currently delivers 3000 hours of outsourced IT audit and SOx work a year. Reporting to the Director of Internal Audit, the employee will manage the gradual migration of IT audit from the current provider, developing the IT audit programs and process and ultimately building a team. As with all "Greenfield" roles you must be comfortable with being practical - particularly in the early stages as you get out into the business engaging with key stakeholders. The role is based in central London but there is a natural requirement to travel for 40%-50% of the time - typically to the US, India, and the Far East. Intellectual property is a key risk within this organisation and so a large proportion of the work will focus on IT and data security. Examples of reviews include; data leakage, intrusion detection via customer portals; access provision including VDI; data encryption; intranet cyber compromise/cyber threat; source code change; business continuity; acquisition integration reviews as well as related IT SOx work. Internal Audit is a true "business partner" and regarded very highly within this organisation. The CEO reviews and comments on every audit report and the successful candidate will gain the highest levels of exposure across the business. The audit team of fourteen is split between the UK and the US with the later covering the Americas and the UK based team covering the rest of the global. The team is totally non-hierarchical - echoing the practical nature of the business so even the most senior manager will still undertake fieldwork. As a truly global business operating in some 50 countries, there is a need to travel c75% of the time. The travel tends to be a mix of 50/50 long haul versus short haul and is usually to lively major cities around the global. Hence most of the team take the opportunity to explore the locations they are working in whilst away on audits. The team undertake 50-60 reviews per year covering a broad range of financial, operational, ethics, compliance, risk assessment and key process reviews. Reviews are risk based and work programs are heavily tailored to the individual review. Typical reviews are 2-3 people for 2 weeks and as the business is less structured/mature than the very largest and established plcs, there is still significant scope to add value through recommendations that actually make a commercial difference. this ropportunity has become available due to the internal progression of one of the tem. There is a strong culture of progression in the business and most of the audit team progress into the business or within audit in 18 months to 3 years. The team is quite flat, so in this role the employee will undertake a bit of everything from for audit planning support, executing reviews in the field and drafting recommendations.
