Key points: Skills Alliance, an established and leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical staffing firm has been exclusively retained by a cutting edge biotechnology organisation to begin the build out of their rare diseases division across Europe. As a expert business, the medical strategy is vital to a successful launch and as such, following the successful hire on their EU Medical Director for this therapy area they are now looking to hire a Medical Lead for the UK.
The company has a large, ongoing pivotal phase III trial, now closed for enrolment and expects to launch into the rare disease space in 2018. As an organisation they expect to have 3-4 marketed products in Europe by 2020 across multiple therapy areas.
Each role will lead the medical strategy for the Country and build out the local medical division over the next 12-18 months. This company will not be hiring Country Medical Directors, each of these roles will act as the Country Medical Lead and report into the EU Medical Director. As such, you will have line management responsibility for the medical field force.
As the Medical Advisor/Lead you will act as the scientific expert that strategically drives the medical and scientific objectives of this companies investigational programs in Country. The Candidate will be expected to educate and tell the Healthcare Practitioners (HCPs) on the science and potential application of this. In addition you will build strong cross-functional relationships with colleagues in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, R&D, Patient Advocacy and Commercial Operations, while maintaining full compliance with all relevant company, industry, legal and regulatory requirements.
Each successful jobseeker for this new vacancy will hold a doctorate level degree, ideally MD but alternatively PharmD coupled with a strong background working in medical affairs. The ideal jobseeker for this new vacancy would have operated both a field based MSL and then moved into a Medical Advisor/Manager/Lead role. It is important that this person can demonstrate KOL network development, market preparation an understanding of the local compliance requirements and earlier launch experience.
The business operates in a very technical area of science and as such you will need to show very strong scientific understanding and an skillto learn quickly. Scientific excellence is at the heart of their culture. It is vital that this person is able and willing to work in a start-up environment and must have exemplary conversational and communication presentation and time management skills.
