The team gather and assure all kinds of data and knowledge making management information and business intelligence available, providing an analytics capability for business cases and providing dependable governance, verification and validation for data or analytics used in major decision making. The DA&I function is highly collaborative and puts value on the process of solving problems, providing resourcing, staff development and a home for analysts and data scientists in DIO.

The Business Intelligence (BI) function is at the heart of delivering capability and analysis to DIO both in terms of delivery from within DA&I through the expertise inside the function but also in support of teams across the wider DIO.

The Business Intelligence - Senior Delivery Manager is the manager of the teams focused on delivering via the tools used across the BI function. Therefore, the post requires an individual who can give leadership and knowledge on the toolsets as well as the day-to-day management and control of activities.

The post has to interact with stakeholders at all levels across DIO as well as the suppliers of the tools. The postholder must have credibility based upon experience of delivering via the use of BI tools and be able to command the relevant teams based upon experience in the following key areas: exploitation of BI tools the development and training of staff both within and outside the DA&I directorate the procurement, use and review of BI tools (eg Cognos, Qlikview, Oracle EDQ, etc) the collection and consolidation of requirements into a delivery plan project management delivery of training and coaching and mentoring to users.

The post will be a key enabler in the success of the new BI function and in the early days of resourcing the postholder will need to be able to fill in as demand exceeds supply from the team in situ. Therefore, the post holder must be comfortable being hands-on in delivering as well as leading and be able to manage multiple demands on their time.
