- planvehicle and driver resources to achieve efficient collection and distribution of goods. Continuously liaise with warehouse, service and helpdesk to assist in improving overall site/s performance. Plan deliveries and collections as stock level dictate.
- Ensure that adequate cover for driver holidays / absence is provided where required.
- Special deliveries/collections as required within working hours.
- Carry Transport Department mobile phone during obligationhours to respond to Transport Supervisor Team Leader Drivers, management and customer queries especially important at weekends
- Operate distribution within agreed cost structures. Continually strive to reduce operating costs and best practice
- Ensure that all drivers' complete return to work forms before driving commences after absence.
- Ensure all accidents are reported and forms filled in on time. (the day of accident)
- Ensure that the fuel bay and surrounding land are kept in a clean and serviceable condition. (ie. Oil/add-blue-screen wash etc)
- Work with the General Manager & Warehouse Manager to make sure the distribution operation is run in accordance with the Company's Operators Licence which require the Operator to agree and make proper arrangements so that:
- The rules on driver's hours and tachographs are observed and proper records kept.
- motor vehicles and trailers are not overloaded
- vehicles are operated within speed limits
- Motor vehicles and trailers, including hired vehicles and trailers, are kept fit and serviceable.
- drivers report promptly any defects or symptoms of defects that could prevent the safe operation of vehicles and / or trailers and that any defects are promptly recorded in writing and records are kept (for Fifteen months) of all driver defect reports, all inspections, routine maintenance and repairs to vehicles and trailers and these are made available on ..........
