This role usually involves reporting to the Retail or shop Manager concerning the day to day running of the shop and helping to contribute ideas and improvements. Primarily a sales assistant provides customer help and support in choosing products. Ability to communicate and remain happy and cheerful despite dealing with difficult customers is essential! Being able to use a till and learn about specialised products is sometimes important. Other duties include keeping the shop and product displays clean, handling cash and credit card transactions, processing sales and packaging online orders and help changing window displays and promotions.
A sales assistant will also be asked to help with regular stock checks and security issues or health and safety requirements.
