A civil engineer job involves creating and understanding the technical plans or designs, then translating those into practical engineering. Basically, he or she directs civil engineering projects. These may be highways and roads, bridges or marine harbours, channels and drainage and dams or irrigation systems. Other projects may involve pipelines, railroads, airports and powerplants.
